چکیده

Late gadolinium enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an established technique for quantification of dense myocardial fibrosis (1). Cohesive regions of myocardial fibrosis, such as infarcted myocardium, are characterized by expanded extracellular matrix due to replacement of normal myocytes with collagen. Gadolinium contrast agents perfuse into and wash out of normal myocardium relatively rapidly. However, because of increased extracellular matrix and decreased capillary density, gadolinium contrast is retained within fibrotic myocardium (2). Late gadolinium enhanced MRIs are obtained by using an inversion recovery pulse that suppresses the signal from normal myocardium and results in hyperenhancement of signal from the gadolinium retained in dense myocardial fibrosis (3). Detection of left ventricular diffuse fibrosis with quantitative T1 mapping in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation

Background Background: Quantitation of T1 relaxation times (T1 time) is a novel non-invasive CMR technique which can detect both interstitial and replacement fibrosis. T1 changes consistent with interstitial fibrosis have been described in conditions associated with left ventricular (LV) remodeling and systolic dysfunction, including chronic mitral regurgitation and aortic stenosis. Atrial fibr...

Native T1 mapping identifies subclinical left ventricular myocardial t1 abnormality in patients with atrial fibrillation referred for pulmonary vein isolation

Background Native T1 mapping has emerged as a noninvasive magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) method to assess the diffuse myocardial fibrosis without an exogenous contrast agents. To date, no data are available regarding native left ventricular (LV) T1 relaxation time in AF patients referred for pulmonary vein isolation (PVI). The purpose of this study was to compare native myocardial T1 value be...

Incidence of Atrial Fibrillation after Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery and Its Risk Factors in Shiraz, Iran during 2017-18

Background and Objectives: Atrial fibrillation is one of the most common disorientations after coronary artery bypass graft surgery and can affect the chance of survival in the first year after surgery. The present study aimed to determine the incidence of atrial fibrillation after coronary artery bypass graft surgery and its risk factors.   Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on...

Hypertension, left ventricular hypertrophy, and sudden cardiac death.

Hypertension (HTN) is the most common cause of hypertensive heart disease, which comprises of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), left atrial enlargement, diastolic dysfunction, functional mitral regurgitation and neurohormonal changes. All of these lead to significant arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation (AF) as well as ventricular arrhythmias, and are known risk factors for sudden cardiac ...

Modulation of extracellular atrioventricular node field potential pattern and ventricular rhythm by morphine in experimental atrial fibrillation in isolated rabbit heart

Introduction: Endorphins are produced by cardiomyocytes, and exert different effects on the heart. The aim of the present study is to assess morphine effects on extracellular atrioventricular (AV) node field potential pattern and ventricular rhythm of isolated rabbit heart during experimental atrial fibrillation (AF). Methods: Effects of different concentrations of morphine (10, 20, 50 and 1...
